The first stands out as the Portege R700, a follow-up to 1 of our favorite notebook computers, the Portege R500. While that 2007 brand had a 12-inch display and was one of many last vestiges of the actual $2, 000-plus ultraportable category (before Laptops came in and provided a more economical small-screen option toshiba notebook battery), this new version can be an almost entirely different canine. It's a 13-inch device, still light and movable, but not in the equivalent way the R500 had been (especially in its solid-state-drive version). As an alternative, the R700 comes for at under $1, 000, weighs 3 pounds which is about one inch thicker, while still including any optical drive. Unlike the newest 13-inch MacBooks, the R700 applications Intel's newer Core i-series CPUs. The magnesium alloy casing is reinforced using a honeycomb rib design, which usually, when we handled some demo system recently, felt much sturdier compared to the old Portege R500, which experienced some serious lid flexing. The business version belonging to the R600 starts at $999 and consists of a port replicator connection relating to the bottom, while the consumer version (differentiated by just a blue lid toshiba battery) is actually $899, and includes Intel's Mobile Display technology, which works on the sold-separately receiver to transmit video signals with your TV. The second 25th-anniversary laptop computer from Toshiba is much more of a showpiece. The Libretto W100 can be a limited-run touch-screen laptop who pays homage to Toshiba's long-running brand of nearly handheld-size laptops. This new version is particularly eye-catching, as it replaces the common keyboard/screen combo with a couple of touch-sensitive panels, hinged in the middle. One of the a couple of 7-inch displays acts being normal laptop screen, while the other could display a usable key pad (a bit like the one of many iPad/ toshiba laptop hvac adapter), or one about six other navigation styles. We tried a display unit out recently, and while it's probably not going to become practical substitute for normal laptop keyboard anytime before long, it's an interesting go through the idea of a online keyboard. Helpfully, a built-in accelerometer will be able to rotate the screens instantly as needed when watching in portrait mode. The W100 posseses an Intel Pentium U5400 processor and allows 2GB of RAM in addition to a 62GB SSD. It isn't being pitched to provide a mainstream device and a little limited number will be available online from Toshiba and online stores. There's no official charge yet, but it'll come to be north of $1, 000. <! --INFOLINKS_OFF-->.
