This text is about the history on the computer manufacturer company COMPAQ,
Compaq Computer Corporation was an American laptop computer company founded in 1982. Once the largest company of personal computing systems across the world, Compaq existed as a completely independent corporation until 2002, when ever it merged with Hewlett-Packard.
The corporate was formed by Fly fishing line Canion, Jim Harris as well as Bill Murto former Colorado front range Instruments senior managers. The name "COMPAQ" was resulting "Compatibility and Quality", as at its formation Compaq produced examples of the first IBM PC like-minded computers.
Prior to its takeover the organization was headquartered in northwest unincorporated Harris Local, Texas, United States.
Compaq was basically founded in February 1982 by way of Rod Canion, Jim Harris as well as Bill Murto, three older managers from semiconductor vendor Texas Instruments. Each spent $1, 000 to form the organization. Their first venture capital originated from Ben Rosen and Sevin Rosen Capital. The original Compaq PC was first sketched out on a placemat by founders while dining at a local Houston restaurant, Residential home of Pies.
Two crucial marketing executives in Compaq's ahead of time years, Jim D'Arezzo as well as Sparky Sparks, had sourced from IBM's PC Group. Other key executives given the task of the company's meteoric growth from the late 80s and original 90s were Ross Any. Cooley, another former IBMer, who served for years as SVP of GM The united states; Michael Swavely, who was the business's chief marketing officer from the early years, and eventually ran the The united states organization, later passing combined that responsibility to Mr. Cooley, when ever Swavely retired. In america, Brendan A. "Mac" McLoughlin (another stretch of time IBM executive) led the business's field sales organization after opening the Western U. 's. Area of Operations. Such gifted executives, along by means of other key contributors, among them Kevin Ellington, Douglas Johns, Steven Flannigan, not to mention Gary Stimac, helped the corporate with the IBM Corporation in all of the personal computer sales different categories, after many predicted that none could completely overcome the behemoth.
